Meet Sheriff Chris Brown
Chris Brown has served as the elected Sheriff of Cleburne County Arkansas since January 2017. He has served in law enforcement for over 17 years, holds the highest Arkansas LE certifications for LEOs and Sheriffs (Senior Certificate and Senior Chief Certificate respectively), and has over 2,500 hours of professional training. Chris holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology/Sociology from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. He has also graduated from Arkansas Leader, and the Arkansas School of Law Enforcement Supervision, both prestigious programs co-hosted by the FBI. He has been on SWAT/SRT teams for three different agencies and holds instructor certifications in multiple areas.
In 2015, Chris announced his candidacy for the office of Cleburne County Sheriff. Running on a very strong pro-second amendment platform, he defeated three opponents and took office in January of 2017. He was reelected again in 2018 and was unopposed in 2022. Currently in his third term, as of January 1, 2025, Sheriff Brown became the longest serving Sheriff in Cleburne County History, surpassing the 8-year mark, which no Sheriff has done since the County was formed in 1883.
Shortly after taking office in 2017, Sheriff Brown was dubbed "The most conservative Sheriff in Arkansas" by Pro 2nd Amendment advocates all over the state. Sheriff Brown believes that it is the God given natural right of all mankind to be able to own and carry firearms whenever, wherever, and however they choose so long as they do so responsibly. He has been an outspoken opponent of "Red Flag" laws, and an avid supporter of pro-gun legislation and protecting individual rights.
As Sheriff, he has been on the leading edge of law enforcement change in Arkansas. Under Sheriff Brown's leadership, the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office was one of the first in the state to issue IFAKs, Narcan, outer carriers, and red dot equipped handguns to all deputies. He has been a strong advocate for increased agency training, mental health and wellness, and higher standards amongst law enforcement professionals. During his tenure, the Sheriff's Office has recovered over a million of dollars in stolen property, fought hard to put drug dealers and other criminals in prison, and worked relentlessly to serve Cleburne County with integrity, compassion, and respect.
Sheriff Brown has been passionate about teaching law enforcement for his whole career. He has been a certified police firearms instructor for over 10 years, a red dot pistol instructor for 3 years, is a Modern Samurai Project Staff Instructor, a certified Glock MOS instructor, and teaches a variety of classes for LE and civilians, ranging from brand new shooters to advanced shooters. Chris earned Modern Samurai Project Black Belt Patch #21 in 2022, and earned one of Glock's rare Speed & Accuracy Professional Training coins for performance with an MOS pistol in 2023. In January of 2023, Chris started Natural State Defensive Solutions LLC, a firearms training company aimed at preparing law enforcement officers (and private citizens) to not only survive, but to win deadly encounters.
Chris and his wife Ali have been married for over 17 years and they have four beautiful daughters that all love guns, shooting, and horse riding. One of his favorite quotes is from Aristotle:
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
