New Year's Message from the Sheriff

Happy New Year from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office! I wanted to take a couple of minutes and discuss the upcoming year and what you can expect from us as we go into 2017. As with many people, the Sheriff’s Office too will make some resolutions to keep this year, with the intention of better serving YOU, the citizens of Cleburne County (and all of you visitors as well!)

First, the Sheriff’s Office resolves to be more involved in the community. We will have a presence at community functions, and be available. Not necessarily to enforce laws, but to increase the level of “community oriented policing” in Cleburne County, in order to help bridge the gap between the community and law enforcement and to help open those lines of communication which are so vital.

Second, the Sheriff’s Office resolves to be more open with information and press releases. Understand that there will always be information that cannot be released for certain reasons, and that will not change, but we will do better to release what information we can, and in a timely manner to keep you updated on current events within the county.

Third, the Sheriff’s Office resolves to do a better job of serving the community. Remembering that our duty is to every person, road, and piece of property within county lines, not just specific areas. We will remember that our job is not just to protect, but to serve as well.

Lastly, I want to make a couple of promises to you as your new Sheriff.

I promise to uphold the Constitution every day.

I promise to have integrity in every decision.

I promise to hold my employees to a high standard; the same standard to which I hold myself.

I promise to enforce the law equally, not giving favor based on standing, education, color, class, creed, friendship, or any other bias.

I promise to work as hard as I can, and use every resource I can to make this county a safer place to live, work, and play.

As we move into 2017, we take with us the opportunity to have a clean slate, and a fresh beginning. Let us all take that opportunity, not necessarily to do something for ourselves, but to do something to better our community, our state, and our country. Let us do something to serve others: a neighbor, a friend, a stranger. Anyone can change the world, and it all starts with one step. Happy New Year!
