Sheriff's Office Searches For Drowning Victims

A search is currently underway on Greers Ferry Lake in open water near Eden Isle for two drowning victims. A twenty-six year old female, Chetana Armbya and her thirty-three year old brother, Narain Armbya were swimming in open water from a pontoon boat with friends and family at the time of the accident. Witnesses reported that Miss Armbya had begun having difficulties in the water and that her brother Narain had swam out to her and attempted to assist her back to the boat. Both disappeared from view before being able to reach the boat. Neither individual was wearing a personal flotation device at the time. At this time the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Game and Fish, Corp of Engineers, Cove Creek Fire Department and numerous other volunteers are assisting Cleburne County Officers with the recovery efforts.
