Lake claims drowning victim

On June 17, 2017 around 11am, Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to Sandy Beach Swim Area in Heber Springs for a possible drowning.  Deputies learned that a small group of people had been attempting to swim to a fixed object near the beach when one member went under the water.  According to witnesses, several people attempted to locate and rescue the male, but were unsuccessful in their attempts.  The body of 23-year-old Darryl Sullins of Searcy was recovered from the water a short time later.  The investigation is ongoing.
