Hopewell man arrested after altercation with deputies

09/11/2017

On September 10, 2017 around 12pm, Cleburne County deputies responded to Firehouse Road in Hopewell for a complaint of someone actively damaging property.  When deputies arrived, they encountered a male who matched the suspect’s description.  The suspect, later identified as Bobby Brown, 54, of Hopewell, attempted to flee the area and then engaged in a fight with deputies.  Bobby was eventually taken into custody, and transported to the Cleburne County Jail.  Two deputies were transported by ambulance to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  One Sheriff’s Office car was also damaged in the altercation.  Bobby is currently being held with no bond on charges including Terroristic Threatening, Assault 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing, and Battery 2nd.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Sheriff's Office would also like to thank the Heber Springs Police Department, who's officers responded to the scene to assist, and also took calls in the county while the deputies were being treated at the hospital.
