On November 7, 2017 the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received information that a small amount of methamphetamine had been located and recovered out of the County’s work release vehicle, and that it was believed to have been in the possession of a work release inmate who had come from the jail.  Detectives also obtained information that there may be a larger amount of methamphetamine inside the Cleburne County Jail that had been smuggled in at some point.  It is believed at this time that the contraband was brought into the jail concealed in a body cavity.   Detectives, along with deputies, and jailers, conducted a thorough search of the housing pod where the work release inmates are housed.  Searches like this are conducted on a random basis regularly, and also when there is specific information obtained that contraband is present.

During the search, just over 30 grams of methamphetamine were located in the possession of one inmate (most of which was in one container), who was identified as Jamie Heaver.  Heaver was charged with one count of Possession of methamphetamine with the purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and furnishing, possessing, or using prohibited articles. 

The investigation is ongoing.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
