Sheriff’s Deputies Respond to Dam Site Park for Possible Drug Overdose

On 5-26-2018, Cleburne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Dam Site Park for a possible drug overdose. Upon arrival, two male subjects were found unresponsive, and a third person was struggling to maintain consciousness. Park Rangers were on scene and performing CPR. Paramedics arrived and rendered assistance to the Park Rangers by continuing to perform CPR on the unresponsive persons and administering Narcan to all three victims. The first sheriff’s deputy on scene administered his department issued dose of Narcan to the victim that was most responsive. All three victims were transported to the Baptist Health Emergency Room in Heber Springs. The victim that received the Narcan from the deputy was responsive to emergency room personnel. The other two subjects were quickly transported to other medical facilities in Little Rock, where they later passed away. Detectives were able to confirm that all three subjects had ingested a controlled substance that caused them to overdose. The names of the victims are not being released at this time. This incident is still under investigation.
