Several honored for actions taken at The Other Side in January

07/09/2018

On January 13th, Sheriff’s Office Deputies, along with Arkansas State Police, responded to The Other Side, a local outreach ministry located in Wilburn, for a report of a man with a gun.  When deputies arrived, they confronted the suspect, Patrick Jones, 23, of Bradford, who was armed with a handgun.  Jones was taken into custody without further incident.  Jones was charged with Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threatening, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Carrying a Weapon.

On July 8, 2018, The Other Side held a dinner, and presented Deputy Jeff McLain, Deputy Austin Miller, and Lieutenant Jeff Bittle with certificates of appreciation.  ASP Trooper Clint Vaughn was not present, but also received mention during the ceremony, as well as Other Side Chaplain Quinton White, who was able to keep Jones occupied long enough for Law Enforcement to arrive.  The awards, thanking the honorees for their bravery, quick thinking, and fearless action, were presented in front of a large group of people that included community members, Other Side employees and program participants, and participants of The Other Side’s women’s ministry, The Daughter’s of The Other Side.  We are very thankful for the quick actions, selfless service, and dedication from all involved.
