12/13/2018

*****UPDATE*****

December 26, 2018

The Sheriff’s Office has been in contact with the Medical Examiner’s Office regarding this case.  It was reported to us by the ME's Office that the remains have been positively identified as Roland James Jr.  And although an official cause of death was unable to be determined (due to the extent of decomposition) it was reported that there were several broken bones which were consistent with a fall from height.

_______________

On August 29, 2018 the Sheriff’s Office took a missing person report from Roland James Sr.  Roland Sr. reported that his son, Roland James Jr., had been missing since July 31, having last been seen driving a 1997 purple Ford Ranger.  On December 2, 2018 the Sheriff’s Office responded to Burnett Road as a result of the Ford Ranger being located by Ronald Jr’s family.  A deputy made contact with family and members of the Pine Snag Fire Department.  After a brief search, several items were located, including skeletal remains believed to be that of Roland Jr.  The remains were sent to the crime lab to determine cause of death and to try and verify the identity of the remains.  The investigation is ongoing, but there is no foul play suspected at this time.
