Two suspects arrested after gas station burglaries

07/29/2019

On May 19, 2019 Cleburne County Deputies responded to the Gateway Junction Store outside Quitman in reference to a male subject who had stolen a deposit bag containing money and checks from the store office.  Surveillance footage showed the suspect entering the office and taking the deposit bag, and concealing it before leaving the store and getting into a vehicle with another male.  It was also reported that suspects matching those from Gateway unsuccessfully attempted to enter the office of the Valero gas station on Highway 25 in Heber Springs.  Similar reports also came in from Roadrunner 66 and Holland’s Exxon in Heber Springs.  All total, the estimated loss was over $5,000.

During the course of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office received tips from the public, and help from several area agencies in identifying both suspects.  We are grateful for their assistance.

At the completion of the investigation, Larry Willard Davis, 58, of Searcy, and Lee Andrew Saulsberry, 55, of Searcy were arrested and charged with the following criminal charges.

Larry Davis: Commercial Burglary (Class C Felony), Theft (Class D Felony), and Habitual Offender.

Lee Saulsberry: Commercial Burglary (Class C Felony), Theft (Class D Felony), Theft (Class A Misdemeanor), and Habitual Offender.

Both are currently being held in the Cleburne County Jail.  Bond was set at $5,000 each.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
