Drug investigation results in arrests, drug seizure

During the month of September 2020 Investigators with the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office and Heber Springs Police Department received information about an individual identified as Gary Henson, 53, of Searcy Arkansas trafficking large amounts of Methamphetamine into the Heber Springs area for distribution. It was related to Investigators that Henson would travel to Heber Springs and distribute from various hotels and other locations in the city. After receiving the information, a joint investigation was opened that included the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office, and Heber Spring Police Department, along with 16th Judicial Drug Task Force Agents. After months of investigation Detectives acquired a search warrant for the hotel room where Henson was located in Heber Springs. The Search Warrant was executed on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 by the three agencies. Upon execution of the warrant Investigators discovered approximately 1.24 Pounds of Crystal Methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $37,000 along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia associated with the sale, distribution, and trafficking of Methamphetamine. Detectives also located nearly $10,000 in U.S. Currency believed to be gained from illicit drug sales. Gary Henson is currently being held at the Cleburne County Detention Center on a $100,000 Bond.

Gary Henson has been charged with the following:

  1. TRAFFICKING A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE METHAMPHETAMINE, A CLASS "Y" FELONY
  2. POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS "B" FELONY
  3. POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS "D" FELONY
  4. POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS "D" FELONY
  5. MAINTAININING DRUG PREMISES WITHIN 1000 FEET OF A CERTIFIED DRUG FREE ZONE, A CLASS "B" FELONY
  6. UNLAWFUL USE OF A COMMUNICATION DEVICE, A CLASS "C" FELONY
  7. GARY HENSON HAS ALSO BEEN CHARGED AS A HABITUAL OFFENDER

During the investigation Detectives received information that a co-conspirator to Gary Henson identified as Thomas David Farris Jr, 34, of Heber Springs was also trafficking large amounts of Methamphetamine into Heber Springs for distribution. Members of the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office, Heber Springs Police Department, and 16th Judicial Drug Task Force further investigated Farris that subsequently led to the execution of a Search Warrant at Farris's residence on Thursday, March 25th, 2021. While being assisted by the Stone County Sheriff's Department and Izard County Sheriff's Department Farris was found to be in possession of approximately 22 Grams of Crystal Methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $1,500 along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia associated with the sale, distribution, and trafficking of Methamphetamine. Farris is currently being held at the Cleburne County Detention Center on a $15,000 Bond.

Thomas David Farris Jr has been charged with the following:

  1. POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETMAINE OR COCAINE WITH THE PURPOSE TO DELIVER TEN GRAMS OR MORE BUT LESS THAN TWO HUNDRED GRAMS, A CLASS "A" FELONY
  2. POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS "B" FELONY
  3. POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS "D" FELONY
  4. POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, A CLASS "D" FELONY
  5. MAINTAININING DRUG PREMISES WITHIN 1000 FEET OF A CERTIFIED DRUG FREE ZONE, A CLASS "B" FELONY
  6. UNLAWFUL USE OF A COMMUNICATION DEVICE, A CLASS "C" FELONY
  7. THOMAS DAVID FARRIS JR HAS ALSO BEEN CHARGED AS A HABITUAL OFFENDER.

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to combating the ongoing Methamphetamine problem in our county. Detectives from the Sheriff's Office and Heber Springs Police Department work closely together in mutual investigations and is often assisted by the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force and surrounding jurisdictions in drug investigations throughout the county and 16th judicial district.
