Deputy, Police Officer attacked during call for service

08/06/2022

On the morning of August 6, 2022 a Cleburne County Deputy and a Heber Springs Police Officer made contact with an individual concerning a call for service.  During their interaction, the suspect attacked the Deputy and the Officer with an edged weapon.  The suspect was also shot during the altercation.  All three were transported to the hospital and are currently receiving treatment.  The injuries sustained by the Officer and the Deputy are non-life threatening.  The suspect's condition is currently unknown.

We are not releasing any names at this time, and the investigation has been turned over to State Police.  We have received numerous calls and texts asking how the Officer and Deputy are, and we appreciate the support and care of our community for that.  The multiple agencies involved have done a great job, and we appreciate all the help they've provided.  Please say a prayer for all involved.
