On December 31, 2023 Deputies were dispatched to the wildlife management area near Warren Mountain Road in Wilburn regarding someone finding human remains.  The complainant, who was exploring the area with her dog, located a partial human skeleton while walking.  Detectives also responded to the scene to process the area.  The complainant advised that just prior to finding the skeleton, her dog had located a gun a short distance away from where she discovered the skeleton.  It is unknown at this time whether the two are related, simply because of the distance between the gun and the remains.  The skeleton was sent to the crime lab for DNA and other testing, along with the gun. 

At this time we have no further information, but are continuing the investigate.  We will provide another release at such time new details are available.
