Sheriff Marty Moss Held Prescription Drug Take Back Event October 29, 2011

11/01/2011

Sheriff Marty Moss collected more than 81.5 pounds of prescription and over the counter drugs during the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Campaign held Saturday, October 29, at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Heber Springs. Sheriff Moss and his deputies held this “no questions asked” campaign for members of the community to turn in their unused/expired prescription drugs they no longer needed to help keep our children and our environment safer.

The drugs collected will be turned over to personnel from the DEA and Arkansas National Guard and transported to Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Inc., where they will be destroyed.

If you have drugs you wish to dispose of and missed Saturday’s event, Sheriff Moss has installed a prescription drug drop box in the lobby of the jail at 914 South 9th Street, Heber Springs, for citizens to safely dispose of unused or expired drugs, creams, inhalants, and syrups. Please remember to remove the labels or mark over them before dropping them off in the drop box. This prescription drug drop box was donated by the Heber Springs Rotary Club.
